College Football – Week 9

Week 8 Premium Plays Record: 1-2 (even)

Week 8 Leans Record: 2-2 (even)

Overall Premium Plays Record: 17-21-1 (-3 units)

Overall Leans Record: 16-25 (-4.5 units)

Overall Combined Record: 33-46-1 (-7.5 units)

S-T-A-T-E of the Union: Flashes of greatness from the kid. Need a big week. Florida State plays football again unfortunately.

Week 9 Preview: The SEC has been all over the place in a predictable way this year if that makes any sense. The unexpected is happening and it almost lines up that way. Believe it or not, I kind of feel like I have my finger to the pulse of the SEC….

Week 9 Premium Plays:

Georgia -12 vs Florida (2 units): World’s largest cocktail party going down in ATL this year – home of the pimps and the money makers. Both the Gators and the Bulldogs coming off a bye after unexpected outcomes in games prior. Georgia went down at home to Auburn and the Gators took down Texas on the road. If you would have asked either fanbase how likely each of those outcomes would be preseason, the answer would be 0% chance. Both squads get a bye to gather themselves and gear up for the big rivalry. I can do the mental gymnastics to explain the results the last time these teams took the field… Georgia was firmly in control of that game and was in a let down spot after the Bama game. Florida on the other hand beat a bad Texas team.. really can’t put much weight into that one. This one comes down to Georgia stopping the run. The Gators offense relies heavily on the run averaging almost 200 yards a game while the Georgia defense ranks in the top 20 and allows only 91 yards per game on the ground. If UF can’t run the ball they will get run out of the building. Pissed off Georgia team coming off a loss and a bye. I’ll take my chances. Georgia will hang 40… Don’t see Florida keeping up. Dawgs walk the Gators, 41-20.

Miami -14 at UNC (2 units): I am absolutely not buying what UNC is selling. Don’t let a win over a QBless Pitt and Duke team blind you from what we have here. Miami will win this game by 20+ and it won’t be close. Sure Billy B may have some tricks to slow the game down and keep the hope alive momentarily but the Tarheels defense is no match for the #1 offense in the country averaging 49 PPG, 340 yards through the air and 200 on the ground. Meanwhile, North Carolina registers the 90th ranked rush defense. I see Miami taking care of business on the ground and then opening this one up through the air, catching Bill with his top off, C cups flopping around. Miami Hurricanes… take the top off baby. Couldn’t help but notice as well but the Canes defense only allows 60 rush yards per game? A tally good enough for #1 in the country? The surest bet on the slate is Billy Edwards to throw an INT. Anyway, this will be a blowout. Canes neuter the Tarheels, 41-10

Oklahoma State team total over 34.5 at Iowa State (2 units): Mouthful…. #1 that’s a football number they are giving us. #2 The Cowboys have tallied 30+ 6 out of 7 times this year. The only time they failed to cover was in the opener vs Tulsa… The Cowboys have been a completely different team since then lead by the best QB in the country and future Miami Dolphin, Drew Mestemaker. Reason #3. 2nd ranked overall offense going against the 82nd ranked overall defense. Iowa State feels like a rudderless ship but their offense has shown some spark at times – hanging 45 against West Virginia and 55 against Bowling Green. They should be able to score a couple points here against a middle of the road Cowboys defense. A little pressure from the Cyclones wouldn’t hurt our chances. Finally an opportunity to get back on the horse with OK State. Couldn’t be more excited. Cowboys out run the cyclones, 44-24.

Ole Miss -13.5 vs Auburn (1 unit): Rinse, repeat. Another opportunity to fade Auburn… I’m in. Still feels like a bit of a discount here after an Ole Miss loss at Texas. Auburn gets throttled by LSU but I just think that is who they are. The SEC appears to be Jekyll and Hyde on a week to week basis but I see right through this façade Auburn has going. Bottom 5 team in the SEC unfortunately with a defense like a wet paper bag. Not a targeted attack, mind you. I was an Auburn guy. My loyalties are to the wind these days with the current record I have going. Ole Miss looking to put belt to ass off a loss a top 5 QB in the country. Auburn’s defense outside the top 100 in total defense and yards through the air. Auburn may get back on track but it ain’t happening this week on the road. Rebels go trophy hunting, 48-28

NC State -7 vs Cal (1 unit): Dave Doeren gets his marching orders after back to back losses… can’t help but think this plays out differently if they don’t fumble the ball in their own endzone as time expires at Vanderbilt earlier this year. Anyway, Cal is brutally bad and struggles to score points, they travel across the country to play at noon against a team that just fired their HC. This is a Billy Tickets play if I have ever seen one. I’ll drop a little nugget for you… since 2022, 34 FBS teams have fired their head coach midway through the season…. They are 21-11 ATS in their next game. Give me NC State. I think NC States ability to run against the 122nd ranked Cal rush defense is the difference maker here. NC State’s pack mentality gets past the Calgorithm, 35-21.

Baylor -2 at UCF (2 units): Friday game. Copy and paste the state about firing their coach midseason. This line has moved from Baylor +2 to now Baylor -2 as they travel to Orlando to take on the Knights. UCF fresh off taking down the #2 team in the country… can you say… let down game? This is like three weeks in a row we look (and do) take advantage of these. Til the wheels fall off. This is a good matchup for the Baylor Bears as the strength of the defense is the DLine coming in with the 22nd ranked rush defense in the country. Fortunately, the bulk of UCF’s offensive success goes through their run game with the pass game mustering a measly 207 yards per game. The stats favor the Bears even moreso with the ball in their hands as the Baylor pash offense ranks 23rd in the country with 279 yards per game while the UCF pass defense comes in at 108 in the country. Very fishy line, let down spot, interim coach bump… Baylor Bears -2. Bears gash the Knights, 28-17

Week 9 Leans (0.5 units):

Texas -20.5 vs Miss State: No one needs a drumming more than Sark. Has a chance here against a team devoid of life without Kamario Taylor

Nebraska vs Washington under 50.5: Feels like a low scoring affair. Chokehold applied by the Cornhuskers.

Texas Tech -3 vs Arizona: Overrated Zona team vs Tech off a loss

Yours truly,

Billy Tickets
