S-T-A-T-E of the Union: CLEAN SWEEP. Premium Plays clean sweep. We are back. Tickets was throwing darts with score predictions as well. When he’s right, he’s right… Funny enough, the leans were completely swept… 0-5. Hey, the leans aren’t paying anyone’s rent. Premium plays are why they pay me the big bucks. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. +7.5 units is a great way to start. What a call on that North Dakota State game… Dare I say…. My boys?
Week 6 Preview: Joes should stay at home this weekend. This one wasn’t easy to decipher. To be honest the plays aren’t jumping off the page like they were last week as big flashing bright neon lights, but I anticipate moving the ball down the field regardless. This write up pained me to put together riding with teams I despise left and right… Money don’t care how you make it. Let’s get into it.
Week 6 Premium Plays:
Louisville -3.5 vs Florida State (1 unit): Let me be crystal clear…. Louisville and their deformed coach are not good. Every year the talking heads over at ESPN hype them up and every year they fall on their face – Cardinal fans rejoice over another 8-4 season. Different standards at schools like Louisville. Hey, that’s alright. World needs ditch diggers too. But I would be lying if every Florida State fan didn’t have this game circled as a loss the second the schedule was released. Friday night at Louisville, black out jerseys, Mike Norvell’s record on the road, look ahead to Miami for FSU. The list goes on. Now the schedule has played out you have FSU coming off two wins in a row and Louisville in a tailspin coming off two losses in a row. It all just adds to our case here. All of the intangibles point towards Louisville. Differentiator is pretty clear here – Lincoln Kienholz can throw the ball and has the Cards passing offense in the top 25 nationally. Florida State is somehow a capable defense against the run but the pass defense is just atrocious ranking 127th nationally. Louisville will be able to establish the run enough to force FSU to stay up front and Florida State transfer LaWayne McCoy will then spin Tony White around and spank him. The last 5 years have been a humiliation ritual for Florida State – continually embarrassing ourselves to a higher degree on national TV. Every time, ‘how can we inflict maximum pain on ourselves here?’. Lawayne McCoy 2+ TD’s +650 add it to the card. Anyway – 4-2 FSU and 2-4 Louisville doesn’t sound right. 3-3 for both looks right. Bottom feeders like Louisville love to get a win against the big dogs when they can. Cards pad the stats, 38-27.
Florida -11.5 vs South Carolina (1 unit): Unfortunately, I regret to say, Gators might have found a decent coach to bring them back to their standard as second tier SEC team. Sumrall seems to be moving this team in the right direction despite getting absolutely exposed a week ago at Mizzou. Sumrall does, however, seem like the type of coach to bounce back in a big way. Scar has deceiving defensive stats because all I see when I look at recent games is teams hanging 40+ on them. They have another imminent 40 piece lined up this weekend courtesy of the Gators top 15 ranked offense. Florida is a different team in the swamp than they are away from the swamp and I think the defense gives us enough to cover the number here despite having the 110th ranked overall defense and 128th ranked defense against the pass (out of 136 FBS teams, mind you)… not great but SCar self inflicted wounds will help us out as they are -7 in the turnover margin which is among the nation’s worst. Beamer feels like a dead dog coming off a heartbreaker against Kentucky in OT – I don’t see them getting off the mat here. Gators continue to be Fool’s Gold with a layup drumming over a somehow overhyped 2-4 SEC team. Gators chomp cocks, 45-28.
Cal +10 vs Virginia Tech (2 units): You know Tickets gets off to the body clock. Tech flying across the country to take on Cal and laying 10 is Vegas extending an olive branch. Jimmy Franklin in particular has an issue heading west.. If you recall, an east heading west game against UCLA ended his tenure at Penn State last year. Again the stat sheet isn’t going to do us any favors here but the Hokies boasting the 23rd ranked defense is one of the more criminal stats in the game… although the Hokies are no stranger to this type of shameless stat broadcasting. If you recall, Tickets exposed the fraudulent VT offense a week ago. Seeing a trend…. Franklin may be an ESECPN pawn. Anyway, take a look at the wins for this team: Boston College (doormat) by 7, Maryland (one of the worst teams in the country) by 10, Old Dominion (maybe the worst team in the country) by 20, VMU. 4-1 may be the most fraudulent stat of the them all. I haven’t been right on Cal yet – I believe 0-2 betting on the Golden Bears but this one comes down to the number. This game is a coin toss so I will gladly take the 10 points. Expecting a low scoring affair coming down to the wire. Tech loss at Cal solidifies the James Franklin in California struggles narrative. Cal gets the win outright 21-20.
Ole Miss -9 at Vandy (1 unit): I was the #1 Ole Miss skeptic heading into the season mainly because of Pete Golding. Man was I wrong – offense looks as it did under Lane. Ole Miss off a bye after getting spanked by UF in the swamp but they were doomed from the start with the line Vegas put out so you can’t put too much weight into that one. They get a week to take a breather and get back into action against the bottom dweller of the SEC – Vanderbilt. Jared Curtis is playing okay but this is class warfare here. We cashed on this logic multiple times this year and I expect this one to be no different. Trinidad Chambliss will have his way with the Commodores defense despite missing star running back Kewan Lacy. Vandy has kind of stumbled into a 3-2 record, they are literally two plays away from being 1-4 with a loss to Delaware under their belt. Ole Miss is looking to right the ship and I think they get it done in a big way here. Rebels stage a coup against the Commodores, 35-20.
Minnesota -2.5 at Purdue (2 units): PJ Fleck has the Golden Gophers ROWING. This team is humming mainly in part to the top 15 ranked defensive unit. Minnesota coming off two big wins at Washington and vs Michigan to bring them up to a 4-1 tally. Going against the grain compared to the rest of the picks here but the stats do in fact tell the correct tale here. Minnesota doesn’t necessarily have an electric offense but they will benefit this week from facing off against the 128th ranked overall defense in the Boilermakers allowing 35 points per game. Adding on to this situation where Minnesota benefits from a soft Purdue defense, the Golden Gophers are 4th in the country with an average time of possession of almost 35 minutes. Purdue has a capable passing offense (top 25) but a bottom 10 rush offense in the country which will prove to be an issue. I like our odds if Purdue has to move the ball through the air with Ryan Browne. Purdue QB Ryan Browne and Co. will be tasked with moving the ball against a Golden Gopher’s defense ranked 16th is pass defense and 19th in rush defense. PJ Fleck moves into the back half of the top 25 with a win on the road here. Minnesota rows past the Gophers, 31-17.
Week 6 Leans (0.5 units):
Washington -2.5 vs Iowa: Friday night game. Iowa are big time frauds and these B10 teams struggle going west. Line screams Huskies. Tickets screams Huskies.
North Dakota State -2 at UNLV: The Runnin Rebels are Jekyll and Hyde of the FBS. Never know what team is showing up. Soft team vs a hard nose team. The most notable team newly FBS appointed NDSU will play – expect an additional edge from the Bison.
App State vs Old Dominion over 48.5: Old Dominion worst team in the country. Defense ranks 137th in the FBS.. I didn’t even know there were 137 FBS team. App State could hit the number on their own.
NC State vs Wake Forest over 59.5: Number could have been 105.5 and I would still
take it.
Houston +2.5 at Kansas State: If this line was Houston -2.5 it would be a 2 unit premium play. Scared off by a ranked team being an underdog against an unranked team. Houston should roll.
Bama vs Georgia over 49.5: These teams can’t stop scoring. Hurricane will be gone by kick. We’ve got a track meet in Tuscaloosa.
Yours truly,
Billy Tickets
