College Football – Week 2

Premium Plays Record: 1-3-1 (-3 units)

Leans Record: 3-3 (even)

Overall Combined Record: 4-6-1 (-3 units)

S-T-A-T-E of the Union: You will never see another play from me again backing the current Florida State administration.

Week 2 Preview: This one’s for my former bookie and current subscriber, Danny. Cleaned him out from 2022-2024, time to extend the olive branch. First marquee matchups of the year with Memphis at Boise State…. Oh, and Ohio State at Texas. Had a chance to watch some film this weekend and a couple days to digest. I feel good – confident. Love the slate.

Week 2 Premium Plays:

Army -3 at USF (2 units): As we know, William Tickets and the proprietors at Spo’s Sports are supporters of the troops. All branches. I think this year is going to be one of the best collective years as whole for the service academies between Army, Air Force, and Navy. Army was one of the favorites to win their league preseason and looked the part in week one winning 55-3. Their offense has been holding them back the las couple years but it seems they found it. Par for the course with service academies but they return the majority of their starters from 2025 (80%). USF is a team that looked like it has some work to do under new head coach Brian Hartline. They squeaked by FIU in a low scoring, clunky affair. This is another team fleeced in the portal at the hands of their departing coach, Alex Goelesh. Hartline imported two SEC quarterbacks to compete for the starting job… just two not very good SEC quarterbacks. Luke Kromenhoek and Michael Van Buren competed for the gig, Van Buren landed it while Kromenhoek is playing intramurals. Van Buren is absolutely nothing to write home about after his time at Mississippi State and was jumped by true freshman QB Kamario Taylor last year at State. Army is a well oiled machine and is going to run it down the Bull’s throat. I don’t see Hartline and the Bulls being ready for this one. Army secures a victory in Florida for the first time since 1865, 41-20.

Washington -26.5 vs Utah State (1 unit): Washington hung us out to dry a week ago with a lackluster offensive performance in week 1 against rival Washington State. Despite the offense struggling, the defense looked great. I think we have a potential USC situation on our hands here – play with their food in the opener, kick it into gear in game two. Utah State struggled with Idaho State a week ago winning 29-17. I see Demond Williams and co rolling on offense while the Huskies defense keeping Utah State under 10 points. 45-10, Huskies right the ship.

Oregon -23 vs Oklahoma State (1 unit): This one does not feel good. Pains me to write. But I have a fiduciary duty to my clients to provide the best bets possible. Oregon got punched in the mouth week in their opener. Oklahoma State flat out lost to Tulsa – who is clearly improved… but this is a game that was decided by 50+ points a year ago. I don’t care who OK State imported, its going to get ugly. Oregon is led by a pyscho in Dan Lanning and I expect a bloodbath. For additional date points, see USC and the above. Expect the same here – unfortunately, my boys will be on the receiving end. One of the favorites to win it all this year gets back on track, 48-17.

UNLV -3.5 at North Texas (2 unit): Dan Mullen’s squad has found their way into the first two weeks of write ups. This team was projected to be a G6 favorite to make the playoff and potentially run the table with a perfect season. They got bounced early by Charles Huff and the Memphis Tigers and are now on a revenge tour. First taking advantage of a good Hawai’i team on the rock. It seems Mullen has these guys back on track with sites set on North Texas next. As previously mentioned, all of North Texas is now at Oklahoma State. Dan Mullen has made a career out of winning the games he is supposed to win and I don’t see that changing here. Former Oklahoma and Auburn signal caller, Jackson Arnold is under center for the Runnin Rebels and has looked good through two games. On the other side, UCF reject Tavian Jackson has resurfaced at North Texas. UNLV will have a large talent advantage and a massive coaching advantage. Rebels ground the eagles, 31-17.

Memphis +8.5 at Boise State (1 unit): This, kids, is what we refer to as a ‘big game hangover’. Gather around little Jimmy, class is in session. Boise State looked like they were poised to shock the college football world in week one taking a lead against Oregon deep into the second half. They ultimately couldn’t seal the deal but left it all out there…which is exactly what we want to see. Now you have a mentally drained and defeated Boise State team hosting a sneaky Memphis team under new management with Charles Huff. A Memphis Tigers team that has proven they can beat good teams (opener against UNLV). Vegas decides to toss out a fishy line indicating this one is nothing to get excited about? Not so fast…. I think Boise will ultimately get it done but not without a sweat courtesy of Chuckie Huff. Boise survives 24-21.

Ohio State vs Texas over 49.5 (1 unit): Public is going to load up on the under here in my opinion but I like the over for a few reasons. First and foremost, both Ohio State and Texas were on the younger side on the offensive side of the ball a year ago, from the offensive line, to skill positions, to the QB. Another year of development for Arch Manning, Julian Sayin, and Jeremiah Smith, I think the defenses are going to be on their heels in what has the potential to be a duel of top draft picks. Ohio State’s defense appears to be as advertised but people forget this Texas defense didn’t exactly live up to the hype a year ago. Now, they take the third string linebacker from Florida State and tell me he is the starting linebacker at Texas…. And you want me to believe the Texas defense is improved? Sell that bill of goods to the next sucker. The light went off in my head Tuesday when I saw a text from an associate of mine… the most square associate in my contacts… proclaiming the under as a lock. The ink was dry on this write up 5 minutes later. Buckeyes take the lead in a shootout and force Texas to keep up, 35-31 Buckeyes.

Missouri vs Kansas over 50.5 (2 units; Friday Night): Tickets is boarding a flight and doesn’t have all the fancy stats/name pulls you’ve come to expect but sometimes you have to put all of that aside. Take a step back, touch grass, deep breath, visualize…. Missouri vs. Kansas. Border war. This one screams over. Both teams hung 60+ in their opener. Neither has been known for defense during the tenure of Drinkowitz at Missouri or Leipold at Kansas. It’s going over. It’s Missouri vs Kansas. It has to. 45-41, Mizzou.

Week 2 Leans:

UCLA -12.5 vs SDSU: Bob Chesney era underway at UCLA. Should be a high scoring dog walk.

Clemson -20.5 vs Georgia Southern: If Dabo can, he will.

Cal +3.5 at Cuse: Still believe in JSK. If my memory serves me correctly – they jumped someone in a similar west going east ACC matchup around this time last year. I would know because I faded them.

BYU -7 vs Arizona: After 10 years in college, we know what Noah Fifita is…. And he ain’t covering a tud at BYU.

Boston College -3 vs Rutgers (Friday Night): Red Bandana game on 9/11.

Sincerely,

William Tickets
