Last Week: 11-2 Overall (+15.97u)
Full Season: 14-3 Overall (+18.34u)
Last Week Recap:
Man, oh man. Where do I even begin? After the first true week of College Football, there are a lot of questions that are being asked. Are Mini Mike and the Florida State Seminoles……BACK? Can Spo actually see into the future? Is it really true that Brock Glenn legitimately has a conveyor belt of seemingly endless five-star sorority girl box that would put Henry Ford's assembly line to shame? The answer to all these questions is an unequivocal yes.

In all seriousness though, not even The Sporacle could have forecasted the absolute curb stomping that ensued in Tallahassee this past weekend. If anyone before the game would have told you that FSU would just physically abuse the Alabama Crimson Tide for 60 minutes straight, you would have been Baker Acted. But that is exactly what happened.
Upon watching the film, the Noles looked GOOD. Perhaps even really GOOD. But on the other side, Bama looked like straight ASS. I mean, their defensive coaching is just atrocious, their offensive scheme and decision to abandon the run was not a good one, and the OL/QB play left a lot to be desired. Not to mention, that Bama team just has no juice whatsoever. That said, I don’t think that discounts the Noles and their abilities – that was a full-blown ass whooping last Saturday.
Mini Mike has quite literally gone from leading the saddest, worst, most pitiful team in CFB history, to inarguably the swaggiest, most aura-maxxing team in the country in a span of about 9 months. The Noles aren’t the most talented team in the country, but I’ll be damned if we don’t have the most juice after Week 1. Watching Earl Little and Ashlynd Barker just absolutely bap the hell out of these weenie little receivers and running backs genuinely makes my pants shorter. REDRUM.
Anyways, besides the Noles, I was on a personal heater last week (11-2 if you’re keeping score), and we’ll keep that momentum going into Week 2. Word on the street is that Billy Tickets is up and moving around in the bullpen, so we’ll see if he enters the game this week.
Let’s get to the picks this week. We’re going to the moon, boys. Strap in.
Picks:
Ohio +4.5 -130 vs West Virginia (2.6u)
This is a great spot for Ohio and by every metric rating I can see, the needle is landing on the Bobcats.
The Bobcats were in a dogfight with Rutgers last week that came down to the wire, while the Mountaineers had a glorified scrimmage against Robert Morris and handled business. The Mountaineers did fumble 3 times in the first half last week so it wasn’t smooth sailing the whole game, but they did end up winning bigly.
What I see in this matchup, however, is a West Virginia team playing it’s first FBS game in the Rich Rod 2.0 Era, away, against a sneaky Ohio team with a promising QB in Parker Navarro, with a massive rivalry against Pitt on deck, and Ohio needing a win with their next opponent being Ohio State.
Add in the fact that WVU has lost 6 straight road openers, the Bobcats are 42-14 straight up at home in the last 11 years, and that Rich Rod brought in 23 transfers AFTER spring practice, things look REAL GOOD for Ohio.
Rich Rod can build this WVU program back up, but it’s gonna take some time. Give me the Bobcats.

Iowa TT Under 20.5 -135 vs Iowa State (2.7u)
Battle of the Cornfeds right here. Doesn’t get much more “smashmouth football” than this.
Iowa State sits pretty at 2-0 after handling Kansas State in Ireland and a buy game last week. Iowa is 1-0 after struggling through the first half of their contest with Albany last week, but pulled away in the 2nd.
Based on how this game has gone in recent history, an Under is in-order for this game. I always see people trying to get cheeky with a “yoooo but like lowwwkkeeyyyy bro it could be an Over” with these Iowa games. Fortunately, I am highkey not a dumbass and will be nowhere near an Over in this game.
Two teams that are trying to run it down each other’s throats. Iowa State could be dealing with the travel ramifications of the Godforsaken Ireland trip. And Iowa will be dealing with its own issues at QB as seemingly every Hawkeye fan seems to be clinging onto hope of QB Mark Gronowski being “the truth”. Unfortunately, these Hawkeye fans are sadly mistaken, and they will once again bear the burden of a stagnant offense.
Take the Hawkeyes TT Under and watch these teams headbutt each other for 60 minutes.
Ole Miss TT Under 30.5 -120 vs Kentucky (2.4u)
Motivated Mark Stoops. Need I say more?
The last 3 meetings between Lane Kiffin and Mark Stoops have been decided by 3 points or less, and Ole Miss has put up 17 and 22 points in the last 2 meetings. Is this showing that defensive savant Mark Stoops has figured out Lane Kiffin’s offense? Perhaps.
But moreso, this game is somewhat of a “must-win” for both coaches. For Lane, if he gets embarrassed by Kentucky again, any notion of him being an “elite” coach will be immediately discarded. And for Stoops, this is probably your best chance to get a conference win (early in the season, at home, lots of unknowns) to have any chance of preserving your job.
Per last week, we know both QBs are not the most reliable – Austin Simmons made a couple rookie mistakes that led to INTs and Zach Calzada just downright blows. The only pro for Calzada is that the Cats kept it pretty vanilla last week in the pass game, so maybe there is a deeper bag to dive into this week.
Mark Stoops made his nut by shutting down spread offenses, and maybe we see some flashes of Prime Stoops this weekend in Lexvegas. Take the Rebs TT Under.

Mississippi State 1H +3.5 -110 vs Arizona State (3.3u)
Probably my favorite bet of the week. I vividly remember watching this matchup last year and having some thoughts.
“Arizona State is definitely gonna blow this.”
“This white running back Skattebo is kind of filthy.”
“Damn Mississippi State is ASS.”
Now, we get to watch this game with an entirely different set of context, with that Arizona State team now coming off a CFB Playoff appearance, and the Miss St Bulldogs being confirmed ASS.
However, we will be backing the “confirmed ASS”, at least in the first half, and for a few reasons.
Per last year’s game, the Bulldogs would have won this straight up had they shown up at all in the first half. They’ll be sure to start quick this week.
I have also seen every Arizona State fan that traveled to this game (not sure why anyone would think Starkville, MS would be a good road trip) has been bitching about how much of total shithole Starkvegas is. I’m talking no air conditioning, no running water, roaches (both insects and drug paraphernalia) seemingly everywhere. Point being, I think these easy breezy Arizona drug addicts are in for a culture shock, quite frankly. And that will permeate throughout the football team.
Lastly, and most importantly, Jeff Lebby absolutely NEEDS this win. I mean, that man did not even come close to winning a conference game last season, and while the expectations aren’t the highest and the job isn’t the same pressure cooker as other SEC gigs, Lebby really needs to show some proof of life here in Starkvegas. And no better way to do it than by taking down “The QB Whisperer”.
More Cowbell. Starkville vs Everybody. Bulldogs 1H spread.
Indiana TT Over 42.5 -125 vs Kennesaw State (5u)
Has there ever been a bet that has made more sense?
Indiana coming off a performance where they only put up 27 points against Old Dominion and went 2 for 7 in RedZone opportunities? Playing a Kennesaw State team that could smell victory against Wake Forest last week, but just couldn’t pull through?
You know Coach Curt was not happy at all with the Hoosiers offensive play last week, and you can bet your bottom dollar that they will be running up the score this week.
Not much else to say about this one, take The Hoosiers TT Over and strap in.

John Mateer Anytime Touchdown +140 vs Michigan (3u)
This was such a hard side to choose, so decided not to go with a side at all.
Bryce Underwood looked REAL GOOD in his debut last week, and if he continues of the presumed path, he will be worth every penny of that $12M price tag.
For OU, Mateer didn’t look the sharpest passing the ball last week, and star transfer RB Jadyn Ott only got one carry all game, with that carry coming in the 4th quarter. Something smells fishy with that situation, and combining my skepticism surrounding Ott with Underwood’s impressive first performance, we’ll stay away from the spread.
However, I do LOVE Mateer Anytime Touchdown this Saturday. Looking at last season, Mateer scored a rushing TD in every single game besides one. OC Ben Arbuckle, who came with Mateer, clearly intends for his QB to use his legs, and in what I expect to be a close game, expect Mateer to score via the ground in this one. And you know Johnny boy is betting on himself, too.

Vanderbilt ML EVEN vs Va Tech (3u)
Did not watch a second of Vandy football in Week 1, but I did watch a good amount of Va Tech in Week 1, and I really wish I hadn’t.
Va Tech used to be this borderline powerhouse program in the late 90s and 2000s, but ever since Frank Beamer left, they have been the definition of mid. And the issue is that since they had 10-15 years of being upper-mid, the expectation is to always be upper-mid, when in reality, being mid-mid was always their norm. And they seemingly always do play down to their norm.
QB Kyron Drones is straight poopoo peepee and this Va Tech team continues to underperform the unfair expectations they impose on themselves.
On the other side, we have straight DAWG Diego Pavia looking to make his first statement of the year, and I fully expect him to do so.
I will keep fading the Hokies until I am proven otherwise. Anchor Down.
Teaser: Kansas +18.5/Iowa vs ISU Under 54.5/Miss St +18.5/UAB +33 EVEN (2u)
Kansas vs Mizzou is always tight. Can’t go wrong with Iowa unders. Miss St keeps it respectable in Starkville. New UAB DC Steve Russ (from Air Force) keeps the Navy option offense in check.
Conclusion:
Not the best of slates this week, but let’s stay warm and continue to navigate this season like a shark. Fish are friends, not food. See you next week.

Cheers,
Spo
